These are the vertical lines that can occur above the upper lip which are more pronounced in speaking and/ or pouting. These lines can occur through a variety of age-related changes including thinning of the skin, a loss of collagen and elastin, and atrophy (shrinkage) of the underlying tissues. Dermal fillers can be used to reduce the appearance of these fine lines, restoring volume and hydration to the region and creating a smoother and more youthful appearance. Depending on your specific needs, you may be offered other treatments in combination with dermal fillers to reduce the appearance of your perioral lines, such as Botox® treatment.
