Perioral line Injections

After a thorough consultation, Botox® may be provided to reduce the appearance of peri oral lines.
These are the lines that encircle the mouth and radiate outwards in a linear fashion. Peri-oral lines occur through the action of the orbicularis oris muscle as well as the natural processes of ageing in the surrounding soft tissues. Certain factors have been shown to exaggerate the appearance of peri-oral lines including chronic sun exposure and smoking although many individuals simply have an inherited predisposition to them.
Botox® can be used to relax fibres of the orbicularis oris muscle and improve the surface appearance and texture of the skin around the mouth. Clients may also find that their lipstick stops bleeding beyond the lip borders.
The treatment involves a series of injections using a very fine needle. Generally speaking, the procedure is quite comfortable and topical anaesthetic (numbing cream) is not required. Afterwards a soothing cream is applied to the treated area. The procedure takes 15-20 minutes and no recovery time is required.

be safe and effective for clinical use. The effects of Botox® are temporary meaning that repeat treatments are
generally required (every 4-6 months) to maintain the desired result.
