After a thorough consultation, Botox® may be provided to reduce the appearance of a gummy smile.
A ‘gummy smile’ is described when lots of gingivae (gum) is displayed in full smile. Although all smiles are beautiful, the cosmetic ideal is thought to include a minimal amount of gum on show. Botox® can be used to drop the lip line (lower border of the upper lip) reducing the amount of gum that shows in smiling.
The treatment involves a series of injections using a very fine needle. Generally speaking, the procedure is quite comfortable and topical anaesthetic (numbing cream) is not required. Afterwards a soothing cream is applied to the treated area. The procedure takes 15-20 minutes and no recovery time is required.

be safe and effective for clinical use. The effects of Botox® are temporary meaning that repeat treatments are
generally required (every 4-6 months) to maintain the desired result.
